BACHELOR OF COMPUTER APPLICATION

This program equips the students thoroughly with the necessary qualification, knowledge and skill for a rewarding career in the Information and Technology Sector. Since this is called the Computer Age the students of this department can also join any other industry of their choice as 'Programming the Services' is the main motto of this department. Students are also given the assistance to pursue their career on higher education at the masters level in India or abroad.

Course Duration:3 years (6 Semester) - Full time

Eligibility:Passed/appearing in 10+2 or equivalent examination in any stream with English as one of the subjects and DSMS-MAT qualified.

AGE :22 years and 25 years for SC/ST/OBC.

Subjects:Digital Electronics, Business System and Applications, Introduction of programming Mathematics, PC Software, Computer Architecture and Systems, Software Information Systems, Analysis & Design, Computer Programming with C, Mathematics English and Communication, Programming Lab ( C), Business Presentation and Language Lab, Operating Systems, Data Structures with C and C++, Multimedia, Internet and E-commerce, Mathematics & Accounting, Internet & Computer Graphics Lab, Date Base Management System, Object-Oriented Programming with C++, Software Project Management and quality assurance, Statistics, Numerical Methods and Algorithms Environment and Ecology, Data Base Lab (Oracle), Statistical Computing Lab Data Communication and Computer Networks, Unix and shell programming Windows programming, Values and Ethics of Profession, Unix and Networking.

Computer Lab:The department is fully equipped with Computing labs having 60 windows based graphics TERMINALS connected to windows & Linux IBM SERVER . The department is also supported with 15 P-IV systems connected to a windows SERVER Three computing labs are well equipped with advanced software & databases .

All the students will be provided with Laptops for their usages.

Teaching Mode and Aids:Beside theory and practical classes, seminar and workshop is being conducted from time to time. Guest lecturers from different Industry and academicians are appointed as and when required. OHP, LCD Projector, PA System is used in the theory as well as in the practical classes.

Teaching Hours : 36 hours classes per week

Examination and Evaluation:The course comprises of 06 semester . The final examination of each semester is conducted and evaluated by West Bengal University of Technology . Semester and Internal Assessment Examinations are held as per WBUT norms . However periodical class test, mock test, seminars, practical tests are held for continuous evaluation of the students throughout the year.

Seminar and Workshop : Following the modern global standards of education, DSMS hosts many multi-skills oriented workshops and value-based seminars. They provide exposure to the students and furnish them with the skills needed to excel in the related fields. Short-term training courses provide the students with the required practical experience.

Students are sent to various Organizations of repute for Industrial Training to get first hand knowledge of the real-world situation.

Training and Placement : Our major recruiters for Industrial Training & Placement are Wipro, TCS, Accenture, IBM, HCL, CTS, Syntel, AEM, Ardent, CMC.

INTERNET FACILITY : The Computer labs are provided with broadband connection for the students to explore internet during their college hours.

Industry Oriented Course : Career Development program on Advanced Software's like j2EE / DBA / LINUX / NETWORKING / DOT NET / PHP & MY SQL are Conducted for students in order to keep track with latest technology in the IT Industries.

Notes :

Payment should be made in cash/Demand Draft in favour of DURGAPUR SOCIETY OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCE payable at any bank of Durgapur.
(Preferable at SBI City Centre branch , Code - 6152 )
Delay in payment of any installment will incur a penalty of 5%.
If the payment is due over one month, the name of the student will be struck off from the roll and he/she has to take readmission.
The Admission Fee is non refundable in any circumstances.
The Management reserves the right to use discretionary authority for discontinuing of defaulted students.

Any legal dispute that may arise shall be subjected to the jurisdiction of Durgapur
